Dry Needling
-
Dry Needling is similar to acupuncture. Specially trained and certified Physical Therapists use extremely thin filaments, inserting them into the skin to treat pain and dysfunction.
-
The filaments are thinner than fishing line, allowing easy insertion ( sometimes not even detected ).
-
This is quite different than injection needles that are larger, hollow, and used to insert liquid into the body.
-
Dry Needling is different from acupuncture in that it is only used for the musculoskeletal system.(Acupuncture can be used to address organ issues, etc.)
-
Dry needling is more science-based, according to neuroanatomy and trigger points.

Benefits
-
A one-inch filament "talks" to 3,000 nerve fibers, bringing homeostasis to an area.
-
If an area is tight/cramped, it will release tension. If an area is flaccid ( like facial palsy or a stroke) it helps stimulate the area.

Some people describe the feeling as a pinch of skin; some people don't feel it at all.
-
Filaments are left in for 8-15 minutes, then removed
-
Topical CBD can be applied
